Plumber Scarborough

Scarborough WA 6019, City of Stirling. About 14 km north-west of the Perth CBD.

Scarborough has been Perth's best known beach suburb since long before Alan Bond built Observation City, now the Rendezvous Hotel, ahead of the 1987 America's Cup. The controversy that followed brought in an eight storey height limit, which is why the beachfront today is a mix of apartment buildings and much older houses rather than high rise.

• The Indian Ocean at the front doorSalt-laden air is the defining plumbing factor in Scarborough. External hot water units, tapware, gas regulators and exposed copper corrode measurably faster here than inland, so we replace external fittings in this suburb more often than almost anywhere else we work.
• Apartment buildings up to eight storeysThe height limit brought in after the Observation City controversy left Scarborough with a lot of mid-rise strata housing. Shared supply lines, common hot water plant and booster pumps are a different job to a standalone house, and one burst can affect several apartments at once.
• Older beach houses alongside the newPlenty of original beach cottages remain between the apartment blocks, still on their first or second generation of pipework. Two neighbouring properties in Scarborough can need completely different work, so we look rather than assume.
• Sand and limestone underfootThe coastal ground drains quickly, which helps soakage, but limestone makes excavation for sewer and stormwater repairs slower and more careful work than digging in sand. We price Scarborough trench work with that in mind.
