Plumber Wanneroo

Wanneroo WA 6065, City of Wanneroo. About 25 km north of the Perth CBD.

Wanneroo is the town at the centre of the City of Wanneroo, about twenty-five kilometres north of the Perth CBD, on the Swan Coastal Plain with the Wanneroo wetlands running north and south of it. It holds three primary schools, a secondary college and a town centre, and hosts the state's largest regional agricultural show each November. For a plumber that mix means established housing and town-centre commercial work alongside the market gardens and rural blocks that surround it.

• Wetlands north and south of the townThe Wanneroo wetlands keep the water table high on the properties nearest them. Soak wells there fill faster and clear more slowly through winter, so stormwater on those blocks has to be sized for saturated ground rather than to a standard detail.
• Market gardens on the town's edgesGrowing has been the business of this area for generations, and the properties still doing it run bores, pumps and irrigation lines at a scale no household approaches. A burst main or a failed pump there is production lost rather than an inconvenience, and we quote and respond to it as commercial work.
• A working town centreThe shops, food premises and medical rooms in the centre carry commercial kitchens with grease traps and public amenities that cannot be taken out of action during trading. A blocked floor waste there closes a business for the day, so that work gets booked early or after close rather than mid-morning.
• The annual agricultural showThe showgrounds take an enormous temporary load one week a year, with amenities and food stalls running far beyond their normal use. Temporary demand like that finds any weakness in a drainage or water system, which is worth checking before the event rather than during it.
