Plumber Alexander Heights

Alexander Heights WA 6064, City of Wanneroo. About 16 km north of the Perth CBD.

Alexander Heights is a suburb about sixteen kilometres north of the Perth CBD in the City of Wanneroo, bounded on its eastern side by Alexander Drive. It was originally named Alinjarra in 1977 and renamed in 1987, with most of its housing dating from that period. For a plumber the practical points are the build era, which puts fittings rather than pipework at the end of their life, and the arterial on its boundary, which makes it a quick suburb to get to when something bursts.

• On a major arterial roadAlexander Drive forms the suburb's eastern boundary and runs straight into the northern suburbs network. For an after-hours burst pipe that access is worth more than the distance from the city, and it is why we can give a realistic arrival time here rather than a vague window.
• Housing built through the 1980sThe suburb went up over a relatively short period, so hot water units, isolation valves and tapware installed with the houses are failing on much the same timetable. The supply pipe generally still has life in it, which is why most of our work here is upgrading rather than replumbing.
• Larger households than the units were sized forMany homes here now hold more people than the original hot water system was specified to supply. Running out of hot water in Alexander Heights is usually a sizing problem rather than a faulty unit, and replacing like for like does not solve it.
• Mature street plantings beside older drainageFour decades of growth means established trees close to sewer lines on plenty of blocks. Root intrusion into older joints is a steady part of our work here, and a camera tells you whether the pipe needs relining or whether periodic clearing will do.
