Plumber Cooloongup

Cooloongup WA 6168, City of Rockingham. About 44 km south of the Perth CBD.

Cooloongup is an outer southern suburb about forty-four kilometres from the Perth CBD in the City of Rockingham, mostly residential, with the shallow saline Lake Cooloongup occupying its eastern side within Rockingham Lakes Regional Park. For a plumber that saline groundwater is the distinguishing fact: it is harder on buried pipework and fittings than fresh water, and the shallow table limits what soakage can do.

• A saline lake rather than a fresh oneLake Cooloongup is salty, and salty groundwater attacks buried pipework and fittings in a way fresh groundwater does not. Material choice for anything going into the ground on that side of the suburb genuinely affects how long it lasts.
• A shallow water table on the lake sideThe ground near the lake holds water close to the surface, so soak wells there fill quickly and clear slowly. Stormwater on those blocks is a question of where the water can go rather than how much soakage you add.
• A regional park immediately downstreamThe lakes here sit inside Rockingham Lakes Regional Park, so what leaves a property matters. Stormwater and any wash-down need handling properly rather than being directed toward the nearest low point.
• Established housing on original servicesMost of the suburb is old enough to be running the drainage it was built with, under gardens that have had decades to grow. Roots into those joints are the common cause of the blockages we clear in Cooloongup.
