Plumber Kingsley

Kingsley WA 6026, City of Joondalup. About 20 km north of the Perth CBD.

Kingsley is a northern suburb in the City of Joondalup, bounded by Whitfords Avenue, Hepburn Avenue, the Mitchell Freeway and Wanneroo Road. The suburb name was approved in 1974 and comes from the village of Kingsley near Winchester in England. Lake Goollelal lies in the eastern part of the suburb and divides the residential area, leaving a small enclave between the lake and Wanneroo Road. Ezio Luisini established a winery near the lake in 1924 which operated until 1986, when the land was redeveloped into suburban lots.

• Lake Goollelal running down the eastern sideThe lake keeps groundwater high in the streets beside it, so soak wells there fill faster and clear more slowly through winter. Stormwater on those blocks has to be sized for the water table rather than to a standard detail, and that is the most common drainage job we do in Kingsley.
• Built on a former wineryThe Luisini winery operated near Lake Goollelal from 1929 until 1986, after which the land was subdivided for housing. Ground that carried agricultural use and then a redevelopment holds old irrigation lines and bores alongside the newer water and sewer mains, so we locate the pipework before excavating on those lots rather than working from a plan.
• A residential area split by the lakeLake Goollelal divides Kingsley, leaving a small enclave between the water and Wanneroo Road. Access to that pocket is limited and the drainage there behaves differently to the rest of the suburb, so we treat it as its own area rather than assuming it matches the streets west of the lake.
• Housing from the mid 1970s onwardKingsley was approved in 1974 and built out over the following years, which puts its original water and sewer services at around fifty years old. They are reaching the end of their life across neighbouring streets at the same time rather than one house at a time.
