Plumber Murdoch

Murdoch WA 6150, City of Melville. About 15 km south of the Perth CBD.

Murdoch sits about fifteen kilometres south of the Perth CBD in the City of Melville, and it is dominated by institutions rather than housing: Fiona Stanley Hospital, St John of God Hospital, Murdoch University, a TAFE campus and a college, with commercial land south of South Street and a small residential area north of it. For a plumber that means backflow prevention, temperature-controlled hot water, trade waste and long site service runs rather than domestic call-outs.

• Medical and institutional complianceHealth and education premises carry obligations a house does not: backflow prevention devices that must be tested and certified, and thermostatic mixing valves that have to deliver hot water at a controlled temperature. Those are scheduled maintenance items, not things to attend to after a failure.
• Commercial kitchens and trade wasteThe hospitals, the university and the TAFE all run food service at scale, which means grease traps and trade waste drainage sized for real volume. Neglected arrestors are the most common cause of the blockages we attend on sites like these.
• Large sites with long, unmapped service runsWater and sewer runs across a hospital or university campus are long and the documentation is rarely current. We locate before any excavation, because on a working site a wrong guess costs disruption as well as the repair.
• Facilities that cannot simply closeA hospital cannot shut a wing and a campus cannot close a building because of a plumbing repair. We stage the work and put the disruptive parts outside operating hours, and we say up front which parts those are.
