Plumber Secret Harbour

Secret Harbour WA 6173, City of Rockingham. About 57 km south of the Perth CBD.

Secret Harbour lies about fifty-seven kilometres south of the Perth CBD in the City of Rockingham on the Indian Ocean coast, its name left over from a marina development that never proceeded. It holds an eighteen-hole links golf course and a surf lifesaving club with a gym and cafe alongside its coastal housing. For a plumber that means links irrigation, club amenities and food premises as well as salt-exposed domestic work.

• A links course and its irrigationKeeping a links course playable on coastal sand takes irrigation at a scale no household approaches, with long mains, pumps and backflow prevention. That is scheduled maintenance work, because a failure in summer costs the course rather than just a repair.
• Surf club amenities with peaksA surf club change room goes from empty to full in minutes when a patrol comes off the beach. Hot water there has to be sized for that peak and recover quickly, which is a different calculation to a domestic unit.
• Salt exposure on the ocean sideExposed tapware, fittings and hot water units here corrode faster than they do a few kilometres inland. Specifying for the environment rather than for price is what decides whether an installation lasts its full life.
• Estate housing on coastal sandThe sand drains freely, so soakage generally works in Secret Harbour. That makes a wet patch that will not dry out far more likely to be a leaking line than groundwater, and worth locating rather than tolerating.
