Plumber Singleton

Singleton WA 6175, City of Rockingham. About 65 km south of the Perth CBD.

Singleton is the southernmost suburb of the Perth metropolitan area, about sixty-five kilometres south of the CBD in the City of Rockingham, closer to Mandurah than to either Perth or Rockingham. It is small: a primary school, a service station, a shopping centre and coastal housing, with development continuing near the school and the main oval. For a plumber that distance changes how a job is planned, and the coastal dune ground and salt exposure change what it is built from.

• The far edge of the metropolitan areaSingleton is as far south as the metropolitan area goes, so we plan the job and bring the fittings, drain equipment and hot water parts it is likely to need on the first visit. A return trip for a part costs a day out here rather than an hour.
• Coastal dune groundThe sand here drains freely, so soakage generally works. That makes a persistent wet patch far more likely to be a leaking line than groundwater, and it is worth locating rather than waiting to see whether it dries out.
• Salt exposure on everything outsideExternal tapware, fittings and hot water units here corrode faster than they do inland. Where a unit is sited and what it is made from decide whether it reaches its full service life or half of it.
• A small suburb still being built outWith development continuing near the school and the oval, mains are being cut in and worked around. Pressure changes and debris in the supply are common at this stage and explain a share of the calls we attend.
