Wembley lies five kilometres north-west of the Perth CBD within the Town of Cambridge, with a population of just over twelve thousand at the 2021 census. Intense subdivision and the arrival of public transport drove its development, and it was named Wembley Park in 1924, shortened to Wembley in 1935. Galup, known as Lake Monger until 2025, lies at its north-eastern corner and Herdsman Lake borders it to the north-west. The suburb sits on the Spearwood Dunes over Tamala Limestone.

Both keep the water table high in the surrounding streets, so soak wells there fill faster and clear more slowly over winter and stormwater work has to be sized for the ground rather than to a standard detail.
• Intensive subdivision from the 1920sWembley was subdivided heavily in the 1920s, which puts its original water and sewer services at around a century old. Galvanised supply narrowed by corrosion and earthenware sewer joints opened up by roots are the two faults we deal with most often here.
• Medium density and continuing infillOriginal blocks are steadily being subdivided for two or more dwellings. Each new dwelling needs its own water connection and meter plus a sewer junction cut into a main laid in the 1920s, which is careful work rather than routine, and worth pricing before committing to a development.
• The Cambridge Street commercial stripCambridge Street carries a long run of shops, cafes and medical practices. Those kitchens and public amenities need grease traps serviced and floor wastes kept clear, and the work is booked outside their trading and consulting hours.
